A Nice Little Town

A short documentary set in a remote rural town that initially appears serene, untouched, and almost dreamlike. Arriving from the heat of Queensland into the cold, crisp mountain air, the place feels like a world of new beginnings — quiet streets, vast landscapes, and an immediate sense of calm and possibility.
As the story unfolds, that first impression slowly gives way to something far more complex. Beneath the surface of this seemingly peaceful community lie long-held tensions and buried truths that begin to reshape everything we thought we understood about the town and its people.
Rather than relying on sensationalism, the film explores real human stories marked by greed, hardship, mental health struggles, and systemic neglect — conditions that have quietly shaped lives and, in some cases, led to profound loss. What begins as a journey into beauty and stillness becomes an unflinching look at the fragility of place, memory, and the human condition.
